Thank you for your contribution to Alfredo Juarez's legal fund. We are hearing estimates of 15,000 to 20,000 dollars for legal representation. Every donation in this fund will be used for his legal defense fund and to provide financial support to his spouse who is not employed.
It is our opinion, that this is a targeted attack on farmworker leadership, and we are responding swiftly to ensure he has the best legal representation available to combat this injustice. On the morning of March 25, 2025 farmworker leader and union organizer Alfredo Juarez, better known as Lelo, was detained violently by ICE. Lelo’s leadership has been vital in protecting farmworkers' and immigrants' rights. He has served our communities since he was a teenager. He was a founding member of Familias Unidas por la Justicia, served on the Bellingham Immigration Advisory Board, and has been a long-time volunteer with C2C. In 2023, he was awarded the Whatcom Peace and Justice Center’s Youth Peacemaker Award for his outstanding dedication to community service.
